Hard Enrage 9 – Raiding in the age of LFR

Now that LFR’s been available for a while, we’ve gotten a chance to see its effect on raiding culture. It offers a quick and simple alternative to traditional raiding. But when players have the ability to kill Deathwing without much difficulty, on their own schedule, it’s harder to find and keep raiders in a raiding group. We explore some of the problems with LFR, some of the advantages of traditional raiding, and discuss how to keep your roster full.

Trunchok reviews Power Auras Classic, and we cover the latest World of Warcraft news.

Hard Enrage 8 – Exploiting in 4.3

The (planned) final raid content of Cataclysm is out, and we can finally get revenge on Deathwing for not giving us Stood in the Fire earlier. The race to world first for this tier began, and some guilds tried to take a shortcut through the LFR system. Some of the exploits used in the past by raiding guilds are reviewed, in comparison with this source of additional loot.

LFR’s impact on the game will be interesting to observe. Is this a victory for the 99%, as Blizzard suggests? What will this mean for those trying to keep a raid group together when LFR provides an alternative? Does it matter that the alternatives are faceroll easy?

Hard Enrage 7 – End of Expansion Burnout

While a blizzard impeded us from talking about Blizzard, we have returned to talk about the new features announced at BlizzCon. We discuss the addition of Pokémon to World of Warcraft, PVE scenarios, the reintroduction of world bosses, and the possibility of stats being scaled down.

With the new expansion coming, the often-talked about subject of burnout is on the mind. Worse than your typical end of raid cycle dropoff, it’s tough running a raid group or guild when everyone’s got their eyes on the next big thing. Raiders fear they’ll just replace any gear while leveling in the new world, they might intend to switch mains for the expansion, or they might just want to take a break before diving back into WoW with both feet. We attempt to cover how to identify the extent of the problem, and how best to deal with it.

Kingfox’s guide to BlizzCon 2011

Unfortunately, this is the first year I will not be attending BlizzCon. This year I stand with the 99% who aren’t able to make it out there to sunny Anaheim, California for two days of standing in dark cavernous rooms, waiting in lines for one beta or another. Believe me, I wish I was joining the unwashed masses scrambling for seats near the stage just to hear Metzen announce that they hadn’t prepared anything for the panel.

If you’re like me and unable to attend, keep glued to the usual sources for World of Warcraft news. We’ll have a podcast up discussing whatever is announced, giving you our analysis of the groundbreaking revelations.

If you are on your way to BlizzCon, read on. I’ve learned a thing or two, and am happy to share my tips with our listeners.

Hard Enrage 6 – Tier 12 content nerfs

Firelands was nerfed. Drastically. With little warning. On both normal and heroic. Without new content available to replace it, and not long after it was released.

Kingfox and Trunchok QQ at length about the nerfs, discussing why we’re not happy about them. Instead of happily trouncing content, we feel robbed at easily defeating bosses we’d been challenged by. The decision to do so now, before the next raid cycle was even available on the PTR, we object to; as well as nerfing heroic modes. We debate nerfs in general, and discuss how hard it is to keep raiders motivated when content is so heavily nerfed.

We also discuss the 4.3 PTR, including the distribution of tier gear and upcoming class changes.

Did we QQ too much? Let us know!

Hard Enrage 5 – Policies for casualcore raiders

This episode we discuss all of the news that broke right after we recorded our last episode; the announcement of 4.3, the end of the expansion’s raid cycle, what the transmogrifier and void storage will actually be, and the major changes to tanking.

For our main topic, we discuss defining the policies of a casualcore guild or raid group. Let your rogue take a night off to see their kids, but don’t let your hunter show up without knowing how to play their spec or how to handle the encounters you’ll face that night.

Trunchok reviews TidyPlates, and we get an update on Kingfox’s use of his N52.

Thanks for listening, be sure to send your feedback!

Hard Enrage 4 – Raid performance tracking websites

We speculate about the recent trademarking of “Mists of Pandaria” by Blizzard, and the screenshot posted to Facebook of Ethereals.
Edit: Since the episode was recorded but before it was posted, the Void Storage and Transmogrifier were both explained. See how close we got to the truth, and make fun of our wild theories.

For those leading raids or eager to become a better raider, we respond to listener Jeir and discuss how to log and analyze combat logs. LoggerHead, World of Logs, Compare Bot, Spec Score, and State of DPS are all discussed.

Kingfox reviews RaidBuffStatus and is again shamed for not using his N52.

Hard Enrage 3 – Loot Systems

Whether your raid group does it for the people or the purples, you need to have a reasonable system to give the loot out. This episode we discuss a variety of loot systems, including Suicide Kings, DKP, loot council, and the ever popular /roll. We debate their strengths and weaknesses, and how to tell when you have a loot system that isn’t working for your team. If there’s behavior you would like to reinforce in your group, a loot system can be an effective carrot to do so.

Also, we mention WoW Lemmings as a follow-up to our recruitment episode.

Be sure to give your feedback, we’d like to hear your thoughts. And make sure to review us on iTunes.

Hard Enrage 2 – Recruitment

Is your guild trying to blaze your way through Firelands but needs some fresh blood to follow in DREAM Paragon’s footsteps? Everyone wants to join a top guild, but how do you fill out your raiding roster when your guild is not the hotshot of your realm?

This week Kingfox and Trunchok discuss what recruitment methods have worked best for them, and how to ensure your recruit is not a jerk who stands in the fire.

Trunchok reviews his favorite accessory, the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n52. Finally, we read your mail.

Hard Enrage 1 – Scheduling

Our premiere episode is ready. Thank you to Steve for the theme song, Brian for his engineering and fantastic editing work, and our producer Chris!

This week we introduced ourselves, covered raiding news and hotfixes relevant to raiders, reviewed the addon Inline Aura, and discussed the problematic issue of scheduling raids.ワイドペールFR1500(キャスター無)
